Reclast comes supplied as zoledronic acid 5 mg/100 mL in a ready-to-use plastic bottle |

|
|
No reconstitution or refrigeration necessary |
|
|
|
Simple set-up in physician's office or infusion center |
|
|
|
The infusion time must not be less than 15 minutes, given over a constant infusion rate, using a separate vented line |
|
|
|
Can be dosed without regard to meals |
|
|
|
A single dose should not exceed 5 mg |
Preinfusion instructions
|
|
Confirm creatinine clearance ≥35 mL/min; monitor serum creatinine before each dose |
|
|
|
Confirm serum calcium is within normal range |
|
|
|
Instruct patients to drink fluids, such as water, within a few hours prior to infusion to ensure adequate hydration |
Postinfusion instructions
|
|
Postmenopausal women require an average of 1200 mg calcium and 400-800 IU vitamin D daily |
